Vintage Rattan Sewing Basket

Beautiful and rare, fully restored vintage rattan sewing basket from France, estimated 1920s. It features rattan strands in three different colours, partially faded with time. The upper basket closes with a lid. We replaced the textile lining, as the old one was in very bad shape. The new lining consists of coarse, heavy vintage linen dyed orange and is finished off by a hand-crafted vintage trim in orange and beige. The hinges have been replaced and the closure is made of an orange Kuchi tassel and a piece of bamboo.
The sewing basket is in mint shape, with some minor flaws, such as small bits of rattan missing and partly discoloured rattan strands, mainly on top (visible in the images). Most of the rattan wickerwork and wrapping is intact, no big pieces are missing. This type of rattan item is my favourite, and it's really hard to find them!
