Beautiful and rare, this restored French sewing basket is a true mid-century treasure. Handwoven from natural rattan in three varied tones and gently faded with time, it features a lidded upper compartment and an open lower tray. Originally made for storing sewing supplies, it makes an equally stunning storage or accent piece today.
The original textile lining was replaced with coarse vintage linen dyed orange and finished with a delicate vintage trim in orange and beige. The hinges have been replaced, and the closure is now a charming orange Kuchi tassel paired with a bamboo toggle.
In excellent vintage condition, with minor flaws such as small rattan losses and some discolouration on top. Most of the wickerwork is perfect. These colourful all-rattan pieces are incredibly hard to find — and this one is a standout.
