This stunning handwoven lidded basket hails from Rwanda and is a lovely example of traditional Tutsi craftsmanship. Carefully coiled using natural fibres and dyed in warm, earthy tones, it features a geometric design and a tall, conical lid, which suggests that it was used for storage purposes.
In good shape, with some minor signs of wear, such as compromised fibre strands (see closeups). The lid sits a bit wonkily on the base and needs to be placed carefully.
