A lovely vintage Kuba cloth with a detailed patetrn and pile from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The entire piece is made from raffia, a fibre taken from a palm tree, dyed in different shades of brown. This one features a lovely fringe on two sides.
The Kuba cloth is quite stiff in texture and, as such, does not behave like a "normal" textile, more like a mat. This particular piece is in very good condition.
