Vintage Kuba Cloth
Free shipping
A lovely vintage Kuba cloth from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The entire piece is made from raffia, a fibre taken from a palm tree, dyed in different colours. This one seems quite old and used, with the pile slightly degraded in places and the back showing some staining and marks. Other than that, it's in good shape. It features an intricate pattern in tan and dark brown.
The Kuba cloth is quite stiff in texture and as such does not behave like a "normal" textile, more like a mat. This particular piece is in good vintage condition, with a few loose threads here and there.
Length: 50cm
Width: 66cm
Weight: about 210 grams
The fabric would make a lovely wall hanging or could be used to make cushions or anything else you come up with!
*This is a vintage textile, likely to have some imperfections. Small holes, frayed edges or other signs of wear. We believe it’s part of the charm of these textiles!*
