Beautiful and large cotton cloth from Burkina Faso, traditionally worn as a wrapper.
This textile consists of eleven hand-woven strips that were hand-stitched together to form a larger blanket. The textile features a resist-dye pattern inspired by cowrie shells. The dye on this one is a bit different. I am not quite sure if it is indigo.
In very good vintage condition with no major flaws. We fixed a few holes with a patches, and there are two very small unmended holes.
Would look great as a throw blanket or wall hanging!
Length (without fringe): 180cm or 71 inches
Width: 111cm or 44 inches
Weight: about 720 grams
Care instructions: hand-wash and air-dry. A machine wash with a delicate cycle should be ok, too. Iron hot.
