Djerma Wedding Blanket

€420.00

Free shipping

A striking handwoven textile from Niger, crafted by a weaver of the Djerma or Zarma people. Known locally as “tera tera” or "souban", this traditional textile piece is created for weddings and carries both cultural meaning and exquisite artistry. It's a beautiful piece!

The cloth consists of numerous, long, hand-woven panels that feature sections of different colours and geometric patterns over a yellow ground tone. The panels are loosely hand-stitched together, leaving lots of open gaps. We had to fix these connections in a lot of places!

Dimensions:
Width: 157cm
Length: 275cm
Weight: about 2.5kg

Care instructions: Hand-wash or dry-clean

Material: Mostly cotton, I am not quite sure about the colourful stripes.

*This is a vintage textile, likely to have some imperfections. Small holes, frayed edges, faded colours or other signs of wear. We believe it’s part of the charm of these textiles! All our textiles are cleaned and ready for use.
