An eye-catching handwoven textile from Niger, crafted by a weaver of the Djerma or Zarma people. Known locally as “tera tera” or "souban", this traditional textile piece is created for weddings and carries both cultural meaning and exquisite artistry. It's a beautiful piece!
The cloth consists of numerous, long, hand-woven panels that feature sections of different colours and geometric patterns over a salmon ground tone. The panels are zigzag-stitched together, so I am assuming that this is a more modern version of this kind of textile. The blanket feels relatively sturdy.
Would make a beautiful coverlet / beadspread!
