a little while ago, I purchased a lovely, old hmong skirt at little vietnam, one of my favourite online haunts for hill tribe vintage fabrics. the lower cotton section of the skirt featured beautiful indigo batik and sewn-on panels of differently coloured fabrics, which were quite stained in places.

the origin of the sapa bag

this is my first post ever, and it is going to be about a unique bag that I dedicated to the town of sapa in northern vietnam. sapa or Sa Pa was established as a hill station by the french in 1922. today, it is a popular tourist destination for backpackers and tour groups alike, most easily reached on a sleeper train from hanoi. sapa is a most scenic destination lying amidst mountains and terraced rice fields, often overhung by clouds.
