fairlyworn is an online store and blog for those enthralled with gorgeous textiles from faraway places and foreign cultures, for the environmentally and socially conscious, and for those who like a story behind their purchase. we love traveling, always on the lookout for treasures from other worlds. we have started to list our kantha quilts on fairly, hoping to expand to other beautiful textiles and accessories soon.
one of us, valerie, is obsessed with vintage textiles from all over the world and creates her own collection of bags and more of recycled materials. the other, bettina, has worked on projects in africa and brought home her taste of local goods. we strive to sell only goods that are either used, recycled and / or fairly produced.
about the center for development and peace
we work with the center for development and peace (cdp) in bangladesh, having them make us beautiful kantha quilts from recycled fabrics. cdp strives to empower the weakest members of bangladesh's society - impoverished women and children - by providing them with an opportunity to make a respectable living. our cooperation is still in its infancy, but we are hoping to expand our line of products and production scope in the future.
